Position Purpose
Reviews and updates federal / state compliance monitoring of emergent bilingual students and LPAC data. Administers and reviews state initial language proficiency assessments for identification, placement, reclassification, and program exit of emergent bilingual (EB) students. Supports the LPAC monitoring of the Bilingual / ESL programs and maintains proper documentation for emergent bilingual students Districtwide.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Compliance Monitoring
- Monitors emergent bilingual student data and LPAC procedures to ensure compliance with established state and federal guidelines.
- Monitors and ensures compliance of Districtwide trainings to identify, place and monitor emergent bilingual students.
- Participates in Districtwide events to promote and support enrollment, and initial testing of emergent bilingual students.
- Keeps abreast of local, state and federal laws pertaining to LPAC and Bilingual / ESL education.
- Collects data and compiles documentation to assist with appropriate program placement and accurate support for emergent bilingual students.
- Compiles reports for compliance and emergent bilingual students program placement of emergent bilingual students.
- Reviews reports and presents findings to Campus LPAC Chairperson.
- Audits data on a regular basis to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Supports the initiation and processing of new students with a language other than English and maintains daily operations, records, and databases.
- Assists in implementation, testing, and validating Bilingual / ESL data from local and state assessments for emergent bilingual students.
- Assists with ongoing data processes for emergent bilingual students.
Communication
Collaborates with District Divisions to support program recommendations, assessment decisions and parent, family and community outreach.Communicates with Campus LPAC Chairs and Administrators regarding emergent bilingual student placement, status, and coding for compliance, PEIMS, and ADA funding.Communicates with parents and families of emergent bilingual students regarding program identification, placement, and assessment.Connects parents and families of emergent bilingual students to community agencies, social services, and district resources.Makes home visits related to program placement, student progress, and other school-related matters as needed.Safety
Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.Supervisory Responsibilities

Knowledge of federal and state guidelines and District policies and procedures regarding education and students.Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding the LPAC and Bilingual / ESL program.Knowledge of compliance and the evaluation of emergent bilingual students.Knowledge of student information systems.Skill at the intermediate level, working with Microsoft Office , especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.Skill in interpersonal relationships, including using tact, patience, and courtesy.Skill in data entry with minimal errors.Skill in working with a diverse, urban population, preferably focused on families.Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing complex and / or technical data.Ability to generate student reports requiring meaningful data for campus LPAC, accuracy and readability.Ability to exercise discretion regarding matter of sensitive or confidential nature.Ability to collect and evaluate data, and prepare recommendations based upon such information.Ability to provide information to parents and students related to District programs and activities.Ability to use software to access databases, email, create spreadsheets, and do word processing.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Education : Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required.Certification / License : NoneExperience : 2 years’ program compliance, evaluation or related experience.Language : Bilingual working proficiency required.This is a grant-funded position and is contingent on availability of funds.
