Job Description:
Forte Dynamics is seeking a motivated Junior Mining Engineer to join our talented team. In this role, you will assist in the development of mining design and operational studies through the application of engineering principles, systems modeling, and optimization techniques. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or professionals with some experience in mining engineering to work alongside seasoned experts and contribute to high-impact projects in the mining industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with mine planning, design, and resource modeling for mining operations.
- Support the analysis and optimization of mining processes, including blasting, resource review, mine planning, dump design and planning, recovery, and economics.
- Utilize mining software (e.g. MinePlan, Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, etc.) to assist with modeling and design tasks.
- Collaborated with senior engineers to develop technical reports and feasibility studies for clients.
- Assist with field assessments and site visits to gather data and provide technical support.
- Contribute to the optimization of mining processes, including heap leaching and recovery modeling.
- Participate in cross-disciplinary teams to drive projects from conception to execution.
- Stay current on industry trends and technology advancements, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or related degree
- Some experience in mining, such as internships or co-op programs
- Proficient with design software such as MinePlan, Deswik, Vulcan, and/or AutoCAD
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
- Ability to work with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to project sites
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems
- Knowledge of mining operations, including safety and environmental procedures/regulations
- Experience with MS Office, especially Excel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the mining industry
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Forte, now or in the future

- Passed the FE exam
