The Team Leads are responsible for a specific manufacturing department or designated work area in the manufacturing plant to meet production, quality, and service delivery goals. The Team Leaders will manage their department through effective utilization of resources. They are responsible for meeting or exceeding customer expectations through coordination and value-based leadership of manufacturing processes, organization and lean processes.
This is a 2nd shift position, 3:25pm-1:55am, Monday-Thursday in Thorp, WI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to the following:
- Lead personnel in a manufacturing environment
- Focus on continuous improvement through the application of lean manufacturing principles and quality control practices
- Prepare and review daily delivery, quality and direct labor efficiency metrics with Production Supervisor and Management team to identify opportunities for improvement
- Monitor the daily manufacturing operation of people, tools, machinery and systems
- Meeting quality requirements and maintaining quality standards for your specific area of responsibility
- Ensure staff complies with all approved manufacturing practices and Forte standard operating procedures
- Train and cross-train production operators in all functions and work-cells of the production line
- Maintaining all processes, equipment, employee safety and housekeeping of the work cell
- Provide ongoing training and coaching in individual and group settings
- Updated OEE reporting and tracking daily on production line
- Inspect product for defects and work closely with production operators and quality to identify root causes and corrective actions to maintain quality standards
- Participates in the continuous improvement process, Lean Sigma, Kaizen events and other manufacturing initiatives to achieve business goals
- Participate in daily production meetings as required by management
- Perform miscellaneous related duties and carry out special projects as assigned
- Provide feedback to Quality, Production Management, and Training Coordinator regarding SOP/Procedures
- Maximize efficiency by conducting effective shift change meetings
- Become Subject Matter Expert in designated department
- Develop successor for each position including “Production Team Leader”
- A high school diploma is preferred
- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience preferred especially in the building products, construction or automotive markets
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and pull/push boxes of product on/offline and/or pallets
- Ability to listen and provide verbal direction to team members
- Respond quickly to production line problems by solving minor problems and requesting assistance for problems beyond your expertise
- Preferred basic training in Lean principles (5S and Kaizen Facilitation)
- Good interpersonal, organizational, communication and mechanical skills required
- Ability to work varying shifts and additional hours depending on business needs
- Self-motivated and possess both cognitive and reasoning skills
- Proficient in reading, writing and math skills
- Competent PC skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and AS-400 Systems knowledge)
- Ability to interact with both management and hourly production staff
- Preferred experience with operating material handling equipment
- Ability to obtain Forklift certification (On-site training will be provided)
- Desire to potentially move into greater areas of responsibility in the future
- Maintains good attendance and punctuality as defined in Attendance Policy
