Summary
The Civil CAD Designer is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining digital representations of engineering designs for a variety of infrastructure projects. This role supports project delivery under the guidance and supervision of the Design Manager, Engineers, and Project Managers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and design layouts using industry-standard design and modeling software based on specifications from engineers, project managers, and industry standards.
- Interpret and incorporate engineering change orders into design documents accurately and efficiently.
- Draft two- and three-dimensional designs for infrastructure projects, including but not limited to roads, sidewalks, parking lots, drainage systems, and structural components.
- Collaborate with engineers to create documentation for studies and reports.
- Perform quantity calculations and provide support for cost estimates based on engineer-provided designs.
- Utilize CADD software to modify, annotate, and label drawings, ensuring clarity and compliance with standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of departmental processes, templates, and standards to enhance CADD production efficiency.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to a positive and productive workplace culture.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with project teams to meet deadlines and project requirements.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
- General knowledge of construction techniques and principles.
- Familiarity with engineering concepts through formal training, education, or work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in plan production for engineering projects.
- Proficiency or working knowledge in CADD design software (such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or Microstation) and Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement in design practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on infrastructure projects such as roadway design, site development, and drainage systems.
- Familiarity with drafting/industry standards and processes in a civil engineering environment.
- Extensive expertise in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation InRoads, including advanced proficiency in design workflows, templates, and project setup for civil infrastructure projects.
