Description
Summary
Primarily responsible for supervision of design, construction and execution of structural projects in the industrial or heavy manufacturing industry market. This position will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. This position will work directly under the supervision of a Group Leader.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide structural design for buildings and industrial structures, primarily in the industrial and heavy commercial/manufacturing markets.
- Compile, write, and edit quality technical reports, feasibility reports, letters, memos, and specifications on structural projects.
- Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices including recent building and engineering codes (AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC) in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments.
- Directs junior engineers, designers, and CADD technicians to successfully execute and deliver project work.
- Prepares or reviews specifications, scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Prepares or reviews complete project documents.
- Formulates and solves problems.
- Provide QA-QC for plans.
- Works in a team environment to deliver a range of structural engineering projects.
- Understands and adheres to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of project.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
- Interface effectively with clients and construction team.
- Conducts site visits, site observations and client meetings.
- Selects appropriate structural systems for project requirements.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFI’s and perform field observations during Construction Administration phase.
- Mentor and train junior engineers as needed.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
- 4 years’ experience in structural design.
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited university.
- Current Professional Engineer License in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proven leadership, communication, mentoring and client liaison skills
- Strong technical background. Proficient with Autocad/Civil 3D, Structural Analysis Software (STAAD, RAM Elements, or equivalents), and REVIT.
- Possesses or has the ability to obtain Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) safety certification, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and site-specific safety certifications as needed.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks, such as climbing a ladder, when necessary.
