Position Overview
The Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising, community engagement, communications and marketing strategies to enhance our brand presence and visibility and to achieve organizational goals. They will devise effective campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate through a variety of channels, including community presentations, social media, website, pitch decks, print media items, enewsletters, and more. They will also be responsible for managing media relations and leading fundraising activities, including building/maintaining relationships with sponsors. The position will work in partnership with the Community Engagement Manager to identify outreach opportunities and relevant target audiences and find effective ways to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with major stakeholders.

Hours and Pay
The Development Manager works an average of 40 hours per week in-person at our main office in Auburn. Some evening or weekend work may be required when interacting with our stakeholders or the media. Expected compensation is between $50,000-$60,000/year benefits.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to raise awareness of the organization’s brand, mission, and programs.
- Identify target audiences and create marketing and PR campaigns that engage, educate, and develop empathy.
- Develop and execute comprehensive and consistent communication strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Create and manage content across various platforms (including social media, website, newsletters, etc), ensuring consistency with brand and messaging.
- Optimize content for SEO and user experience.
- Design compelling pitch decks and presentations for internal and external use.
- Create engaging e-newsletters to update stakeholders on company news and events.
- Draft press releases, articles, and other communication materials including presentations that present the work of Fortify Life to the community.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and internal developments to identify opportunities for content creation and engagement. Actively listen to team and neighbors for relevant info to share.
- Collaborate with outside vendors to produce content including video, graphic design, company swag, etc.
- Monitor campaign effectiveness and analyze media coverage and public opinion, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and potential supporters to secure ongoing funding.
- Provide marketing and communications support to other SFF / SFO entities as requested and appropriate.
- Develop and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to generate financial support.
- Prepare donor communications, including thank-you letters, reports, and impact updates.
- Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring goals are met and exceeded.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred but not required.
- Proven experience (5 years) in communications, marketing, or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in social media platforms, web analytics tools, SEO and content management systems.
- Proven experience with content and graphic design.
- Experience with media relations is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic experience with fundraising and working with donors.
- Basic experience with community engagement efforts.
- Creative thinker with strong project management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Experience in crisis management and issues communications.
- A deep understanding and compassion for the issues faced by homeless individuals and families, and ability to communicate these issues respectfully and compassionately.
