What are the responsibilities and job description for the Federal Work Study position at Fortis Colleges and Institutes?
Position Summary : Federal Work Study (FWS) employees are active students who are awarded a fixed amount of maximum earnings over a specific time period as part of the student's financial aid award package. A portion of each student's earned hourly wage will be paid by federal funds, provided that the hours worked are properly documented and the FWS employee's time record is certified and signed by the FWS employee's supervisor. Generally the student employees work between 10 and 25 hours per week in student service and community service positions. Eligible and approved FWS employment positions may be on campus or off campus in approved non-profit community service organizations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide general assistance and support to the Director by providing student services assistance including peer guidance counseling, tutorial services, and job development and placement assistance to current students and graduates.
- Advise graduates of employment opportunities.
- Assist the Director in the collection and recording of placement information.
- Assist the Director with retention counseling initiatives.
- Report any student or graduate concerns or problems to the Director.
