Assistant Operations Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Operations Manager is directly responsible for the management of all field employees and equipment within the Northeast Region. This position works in close collaboration with the HSE, Human Resources and Business Development to support the business from all angles and to support the company’s growth plan. The Assistant Operations Manager leads by example, treating all employees with respect and exuding Fortis pride.
The following responsibilities are the primary tasks you will be working on. However, this list is not inclusive and may change over time.
Responsibilities:
- Train, coach, and supervise all field employees and hold them accountable for performing and attaining certain goals
- Ensures all accidents are reported and is responsible for full cooperation of employees involved for any necessary follow up managed by HSE
- Coordinate with HSE to ensure all policies and procedures are followed to maintain an incident free workplace
- Recognize problems and improvements needed and communicate to senior management
- Review daily tickets as required, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Manage all equipment in the yard by inspecting for operational readiness and cleanliness
- Maintain inventory on location and in the dog houses
- Serve as back up crew members when necessary
- Directly responsible for the supervision of all rig-ups, rig-downs and subsequent operations on all locations for the duration of all work performed by the company
- Ensures the technical proficiency of field personnel is appropriate to meet customer and market requirements and regional field operations are conducted with a focus on training, safety and quality of service
- Ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order prior to the start of each shift
- Assist the Mechanic with the preventative maintenance program in the field and shop as necessary
- Drive the preventative maintenance program. This includes promoting the culture, fluid analysis and continuous improvement efforts to mitigate routine equipment failures
- Assist the Regional Manager and Operations Manager with selecting crews for scheduling purposes
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by all employees and contractors
- Participate in weekly operation meetings with all Rig Supervisors/Operators
- Communicate with the completions superintendent on manpower, material requirements and future opportunities
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive management or supervisory experience
- Articulate communicator in both written and oral form
- Willingness to maintain the highest confidentiality of company information
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge with MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and customers
- Must be forward-thinking and have high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and the ability to build trust
- Should have sound knowledge and good judgment while simultaneously maintaining an operational, implementation and detail-oriented perspective
