What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager - Western ND position at Fortis Energy Services, Inc?
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the management of all operations in the Western North Dakota region. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to managing employees, vendors and customer relationships and working in close collaboration with the VP of operations, HSE and Sales. This position must use effective communication and management skills to support the company’s growth plan.
The following responsibilities are the primary tasks you will be working on. However, this list is not inclusive and may change over time.
- Ensures the technical proficiency of field personnel is appropriate to meet customer and market requirements and regional field operations are conducted with a focus on training, safety and quality of service
- Ensures that company policies and procedures are followed by all employees and contractors
- Communicate HSE standards to employees at work sites to ensure compliance with company, regulatory and industry standards
- Compliance with DOT regulations
- Support and enforcement of the use of HSE processes, including KPA
- Represent Fortis at regional customer and industry safety meetings
- Support, protect and promote a positive safe work environment for all employees. Works toward the continual improvement of services and systems to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of employees
- Implements standard field operating procedures encompassing best practices to maximize efficiency and quality of service
- Communicate with customers on manpower, material requirements and upcoming jobs
- Manage equipment and payroll costs to budgeted costs
- Train, coach, and supervise all employees and hold them accountable for attaining certain goals
- Coordinate facility management including cleanliness of facility and efficient organization and control of shop and yard
- Ensures all incidents are reported and is responsible for full cooperation of employees involved for any necessary follow up managed by HSE
- Recognize problems and improvements needed; recommend solutions to VP of Operations
- Select appropriate equipment and organize crews
- Review and approve daily tickets and crew time for payroll
- Provide leadership and guidance to all employees within the region
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the region
- Aid in maintaining operating profit margins which align with the budget approved by the board of directors
- Develop and recommend operational policies within the company and integrate the policies with appropriate personnel
- Seek opportunities to position the company for high utilization of rigs and ancillary equipment
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors necessary to support business activities
- Provide regional industry specific insight, industry and opportunity assessments
- Identify and evaluate emerging industry trends that will benefit company growth in regional opportunities that can differentiate the company from our competition
- Maintain relations with all employees, answers questions from all levels, helping them to develop their abilities to solve problems by promoting, explaining and supporting company policies while improving employee interest, loyalty and goodwill
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in the oil and gas industry
- Preferred experience with workover rigs.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to maintain the highest confidentiality of company information
