We are currently looking for a Fire Alarm and Security Technician who will be responsible for troubleshooting low voltage Fire Alarm and Security Systems and resolving any problems. This position requires a thorough understanding of fire alarm and security products, supporting software, and electrical systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, service, and inspections of Fire Alarm and associated systems
  • Completion of all necessary paperwork associated with service and inspections
  • Communicate with customer before and after any call to explain work performed
  • Ensure timely job completion
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and / or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of job
  • Take turns in on-call rotation
  • May mentor Fire and / or Security technicians on tools and technology
  • Required Qualifications

  • Familiarity with NFPA 72, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and local building codes
  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience in inspection, repair, and installation of fire alarm and security system systems
  • Extensive knowledge of low voltage systems
  • Experience working with Fire-Lite and Notifier brands of equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android
  • High level of troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required
  • Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Physical Requirements

  • A Fire Alarm Tech is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs
  • Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment
  • Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Compensation : $25 - $35 / hour depending on experience
