The Senior Alarm Inspector is to be responsible for inspecting a building to ensure its low voltage system complies with all local, state, and federal codes and the owner required operations. You focus on the proper function of the alarm systems but also inspect other systems that support our customers, including but not limited to Intrusion, Access Control, and CCTV.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Inspector is responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, and Intrusion product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.
- Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements and Inspection Documentation with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy. Inspection documents may include requirements by other authorities having jurisdictions such as Joint Commission or Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
- Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
- Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.
- Complete assigned inspections on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Rotation in the On Call List.
- Some documented experience in low voltage electrical systems.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.
- Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
- Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary small repairs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Certifications in IFSS’ areas of expertise or a successful 5 years minimum of demonstrated work history/knowledge as a Inspector is required.
NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems is preferred but not required.
Understanding NEC and NFPA current requirements is essential.
The Inspector shall be able to troubleshoot panels, devices.
The Inspector shall perform onsite review of previous repairs and quality control.
The Inspector shall maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars and keeping up with industry changes and the latest proven technologies as well as attending factory level training classes when necessary.
Compensation:
$26.00 - $30.00 hr. depending on experience
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
