We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire Sprinkler Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting and ensuring the proper functioning of fire alarm systems and fire sprinkler systems in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and local regulations. This critical role contributes to the safety and protection of lives and property in our community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) of fire sprinkler systems.
- Complete required inspection reports and notes.
- Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
- Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
- Completely fill out work tickets and submit when work is completed.
- Clock in and clock out on time keeping app.
- Work under limited supervision.
- Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentice(s).
- Attend training, safety, and education meetings for the purpose of enhancing knowledge of safety concerns and resolving related issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NFPA 13, 25, and California Fire Code.
- Valid driver’s license without restrictions.
- Must have a basic understanding of measurements.
- Able to read and understand inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
- Complete knowledge on how to operate various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threader, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
- Be able to adhere to safety practices.
- Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation both written and electronic (timesheets, work tickets, and inspection reports, etc.).
- Communicate clearly with clients and fellow team members.
- Solve practical problems and create action plans.
- Set priorities.
- Meet deadlines and schedules.
- Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of fire sprinkler installation and ITM experience.
- Valid Cal Fire fitter certification.
- Proof of high school completion.
- NICET Certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based System or Academy Exams Certification a plus.
- Complete knowledge of how to safely operate a pipe threading machine.
Physical Requirements:
- Stay on feet all day.
- Lifting / carrying 50 pounds with no fear of climbing or heights.
- Work in elevated areas for extended periods.
- Stamina for consistent tasks such as, lifting, reaching side to side and overhead, climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and bending.
- Repetitive hand and finger movements (simple and power) such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Operate foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
- Ability to work under any weather condition in outdoor and indoor environments.
Compensation:
$24 - $35/hour depending on experience.
