Bagging Machine Operator

Description

As a Finishing Utility you will support the finishing department by helping to improve the productivity of the individual rewind operators. Your responsibilities will primarily include packaging up the finished product in line with order specifications, but may also include cutting cores, packing boxes, printing and applying core tags and case labels, as well as moving finished goods to the warehouse. Additional duties that further support production may also be assigned.

This position is an Entry Level position starting at $15.00 per hour. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate the label bagging machine to meet customer specifications. 
• Cut cores to length using the core cutter as needed.
• Supply rewinders with cores that are cut to the appropriate size in advance of them needing them.
• Supply rewinders with boxes for the jobs that they are running.
• Supply rewinders with all required supplies including (but not limited to): packaging tape, box labels, core labels, bags, and any other supplies they may need.
• Supply rewinders with pallets to put finished product on.
• Supply rewinders with their printed rolls of material in the proper sequence to meet customer ship dates.
• Assemble and tape boxes for the rewinders.
• Apply core tags to rolls, place rolls into boxes, pack boxes with packing material, tape boxes shut, apply box labels, and place finished product on pallets.
• Remove pallets/carts of finished goods and transport them to shipping.
• Assist in off-line packaging including counting of product to place in bundles, bundle packing, shrink wrapping, and stretch wrapping as needed.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• High School or GED.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read work tickets and interpret written information to provide the proper supplies to the rewinders.
• Ability to do basic math (example: calculate number of cores needed for a job).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Training Requirements:

• Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent Lifting, standing, crouching, required.
• Minimum lifting requirement of 50 LBS on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to use a hand truck to move large pallets of material a distance of 50 to 100 yards.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
• Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Safety glasses and steel toe boots/shoes are highly recommended in the production area.
