What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Tax position at Fortra?
The Director, Global Tax is responsible for managing all areas of the tax function globally, such as leading tax strategy; overseeing the tax provision, sales tax, and local/statutory tax processes; driving tax compliance globally; and ensuring accurate tax financial reporting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead tax planning and strategy initiatives while ensuring compliance with local tax laws
- Manage the preparation of the income tax provision for annual financial statements
- Oversee tax compliance filings globally, including corporate income tax and indirect tax, by working closely with local accounting team to ensure timely and accurate filings
- Direct tax activities with third party tax providers globally, including quarterly and annual requirements and special projects
- Manage processes with third party providers, review and approve tax filings across the world, and identify/implement best practices for tax processes
- Identify opportunities to consolidate providers or reduce reliance on third parties to drive cost savings and improved oversight and ownership of tax processes
- Lead global tax initiatives, including R&D tax credits and transfer pricing strategy
- Lead all M&A activities from a tax perspective, such as identifying tax requirements, risks for entities to be acquired, and implementing tax planning strategies
- Interface with tax authorities, as required, for tax examinations and other inquires initiated by various tax agencies
- Research and implement new applicable tax requirements
- Serve as an advisor to the company on all tax matters including transactions with customers, vendors, and M&A tax strategy
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with professional designation as a plus
- 10 years of tax experience in corporate and international taxes
- Strong technical expertise across a wide range of tax areas including: income tax, indirect tax, and international tax
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to income tax provision and reporting
- Mix of public accounting and prior corporate tax department experience
- Strong management and project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to navigate within various Accounting ERPs and tax software programs
- Ability to organize, manage and work effectively to accomplish multiple tasks while working independently
- Ability to succeed in a fast paced, consistently growing and changing work environment
