As Director of Revenue Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue recognition and accounting within the organization. You will lead a team to ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies. You will also have an active role in supporting revenue operation processes and initiatives. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in revenue recognition, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various departments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the revenue accounting team, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Review and analyze revenue transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams to structure revenue-generating contracts and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage the month-end close process for revenue accounting, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present revenue-related reports and analysis to senior management and external auditors.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition and implement necessary updates.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in revenue accounting operations.
- Support internal and external audits related to revenue recognition.
- Guide the business in implementation of new ERP and system processes while considering the impact to revenue accounting operations.
- Provide guidance and support on revenue accounting matters to other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles under ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards
- Experience managing revenue accounting for complex business arrangements
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Experience with implementing new ERP systems a plus
