Fortress Nutrition is seeking a Production Lead with prior Lead and blending experience to join our Dry Powder/Blending Division!

- Standard Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday
What You’ll Do:
- Assist Production Supervisor with directing the daily activities of production personnel to ensure quality, timeliness, and safe completion of work
- Oversee all blending and packaging rooms and report any downtime or recurring downtime issues to the Production Supervisor
- Develop high performance team of operators with formal and informal coaching and direction
- Champion continuous improvement projects and provide leadership support in development, implementation, and sustaining of processes and cost improvement activities
- Provide guidance to production team on value of lean manufacturing methods and principles
- Provide training to ensure a safe and clean work environment
- Ensure personnel wear PPE and follow GMPs at all times and correct and report any non-compliance to Supervisor
- Make appropriate work assignments among personnel for proper labor utilization in the absence of the Production Supervisor
- Attend production meetings to communicate pertinent information in the absence of the supervisor
- Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
- Demonstrate working knowledge of and enforce appropriate quality policies and procedures
- Become the subject matter expert with the MMR (Master Manufacturing Record); identify where additional training may be needed to ensure paperwork is filled out timely, accurately and following Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)
- Develop a complete understanding of each role in the department to fill in as needed for staffing shortages and create training guides to assist new hires in skill development
- Develop an understanding of operator skillsets; Capitalize on the strength areas to increase production while developing solutions for areas of weaknesses within operators
- Complete time studies to find opportunities for improvements in operations and production efficiencies
- Communicate with and observe operators for continuous improvement ideas
- Consistently check daily/weekly/monthly department tasks and documentation for completion and filing as directed by Production Supervisor
- Work closely with the Production Supervisor, keeping focus on safety, quality, and production improvements
- Maintain a positive attitude and focus on a servant leadership team-building culture
- Able to fill in as needed in case of absence of Production Supervisor, including but not limited to: attending meetings, sending out end of day production reports, watching inventory levels, and giving direction to operators as needed
- Complete other projects as assigned by Production Supervisor and Senior Leadership
- Perform all other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- 2 years of lead/supervisory experience with a team of direct reports
- 2 years of previous experience in process and continuous improvement
- Experience with training and development is required
- Machine operating and/or blending experience strongly desired
- Previous experience working in a food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility preferred
- Must possess strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
- Strong passion and commitment towards continuous improvement

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
- Experience conducting time studies and recommending opportunities for improvement
- Strong organization skills and consistency with performing and executing tasks

- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Hoist, Scissor Lift, and/or Forklift certified is a plus, or willing and able to learn the equipment
- Strong attendance and reliability record
- Ability to easily adapt and prioritize in changing situations
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to display good-natured, cooperative attitude
- Motivated self-starter that can productively work both independently and collaboratively with others
- Must be able to work in a dusty environment with exposure to food allergens (ex. dairy, soy, etc.)
- Ability to work on a mezzanine work station up to 20 feet high
- Frequently required to stand; walk; talk or hear; reach above shoulders; use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment; kneel, crouch and use foot/feet to operate machinery
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, move, push or pull materials, product or equipment up to 50 pounds; bend at the waist; climb or balance
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to eight (8) or more hours in a single shift
