The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will utilize their extensive experience to support and enhance various VA medical claims department program initiatives. This role is integral in mentoring new examiners, providing training, and driving process improvements to ensure high-quality medical disability examinations. You will also collaborate with IT teams to evaluate and implement technological solutions that improve examination efficiency and reduce burden times. You are passionate about continuous improvement, professional development, and contributing to the organization's overall success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provide expert insights and recommendations on examiner and provider training programs.

  • Review and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies to increase examiner quality, reduce cycle time, and enhance examiner support.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MDEO policies and procedures as applicable.

  • Assist with quality assurance efforts for medical disability examinations, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

  • Develop and deliver training programs for examiners, focusing on best practices and quality standards.

  • Assess current examination processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce burden times.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to identify and implement technological solutions that streamline examination processes.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Maintain detailed records of quality assurance activities and prepare reports for management.

  • Collaborate with medical professionals, administrative staff, and external vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality examination services.

  • May be required to work some weekends and holidays.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Education:

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

  • Physician Assistant: Master's degree from an accredited PA program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years (or equivalent hours) of experience conducting medical disability examinations.

  • Six months of supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in conducting medical disability examinations.

  • Ability to train and mentor new examiners effectively.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and improve examination processes.

  • Familiarity with medical examination software and IT systems.

  • High level of accuracy in documentation and examination procedures.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with medical professionals and administrative staff.

  • Problem-solving skills to identify and address process inefficiencies.
