As a VA Disability Claims Triage Specialist, you are responsible for reviewing Electronic Service Records (ESRs) upon receipt, ensuring proper categorization, and identifying potential issues. When necessary, you will submit clarification requests to the VA and determine if a case requires priority designation. Additionally, the Triage Specialist supports the Call Center by accurately documenting pertinent information and assisting with inquiries as needed. This position plays a crucial role in supporting veteran healthcare services by ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of medical records and service requests.

WORK SCHEDULE: Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday. You must be able to work 7 a.m.-7 p.m., as the schedule will rotate.
COMPENSATION: $18.00 -$ 20.00 per hour

- Obtain pertinent medical records from other facilities.
- Assess veteran contentions for appropriate Disability Based Questionnaires (DBQs).
- Align DBQs to appropriate medical evaluations or medical opinions.
- Identify gaps and missing documentation in Examination Scheduling Requests (ESRs) and submit clarification requests, as appropriate.
- Submit clarification requests to appropriate parties.
- Prepare ESRs for evaluation by medical providers.
- Participate in team meetings and provide feedback.
- Demonstrate adaptability and positively accept change.
- Assist colleagues upon completion of assigned duties.
- Help orient and train new team members.
- Follow all VA and governing body policies and procedures regarding HIPAA compliance
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service or clerical experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams.
- Strong customer service skills, including active listening, empathy, respect, and the use of open-ended questions.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in making critical independent decisions and prioritizing tasks appropriately.
- Ability to document thoroughly and accurately in electronic health records.
- Knowledge of office workflows and interoperability.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
