- Carry out medical cardiology functions as a certified Medical ECHO Sonographer with a certification from the Medical ECHO Sonographer Certification Board.
- Perform Echocardiograms, Stress Testing, Treadmill Testing, Bubble Studies, and Definity Studies.
- Conduct calculation methods for the delivery of prescribed dose and ensure accurate documentation in patient files.
- Follow VA patient safety protocols, including timely reporting of incidents, adverse events, and drug reactions.
- Adhere to technical proficiency standards, including expertise in professional cardiology care theories, principles, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with Client Ultrasound Systems to perform required services.
- Maintain knowledge of patient growth and development relevant to Cardiology Echocardiograms.
Education & Certifications:
- Board Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Technical proficiency in performing ECHO sonography services and working with Client Ultrasound Systems.
- Knowledge of VA Rules and Regulations regarding clinic wait times and consult completion.
- Ability to effectively document and report Quality & Patient Safety incidents.
- Excellent diagnostic imaging skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to work with patients, medical staff, and VA administration.
- Understanding of professional care theories, practices, and patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and comprehension).
- Report patient safety incidents within 24 hours via the Patient Safety Report system.
- Adverse events will be reported to the VA Quality & Patient Safety Office, entered into the Patient Safety Reporting System, and evaluated according to the National Center for Patient Safety Handbook.
- Incidents involving radioactive materials must be reported in accordance with National Health Physics Program (NHPP) Incident Response Procedure and NRC Reporting Requirements.
