Description
Title: Group Facilitator
Unit: Alternatives to Incarceration
Reports to: Program Supervisor
Status: Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $24.73 to $30.22 per hour (approximately $45,000 to $55,000 annually)
Location: Long Island City
Days/Hours: Varies Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm, and 11:30am -7:30pm, subject to change depending on program needs.
Position Summary: The group facilitator will support the Family Services and Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) department by facilitating evidence-based ATI and Abusive Partner Intervention (APIP) workshops.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate virtual and in-person Anger Management, Seeking Safety, Interactive Journaling and Dignity & Respect groups using evidence-based curriculums
- Ensure groups start on time, run as scheduled, and that clients adhere to group guidelines.
- Facilitate group sessions in a manner that creates an atmosphere in which self-disclosure is facilitated, helps clients gain group process skills and insight into problems and utilizes techniques effectively
- Complete activity and group plans in advance
- Address problem behaviors, confront counter-productive behavior appropriately in a manner that elicits respect and bonds with the patient while still enforcing program rules and regulations in a firm but fair manner
- Maintain healthy boundaries
- Assist clients in navigating their scheduled group attendance
- Participate in case conferences for optimum collaboration among departments and programs
- Communicate with other staff on any relevant behavioral concerns regarding a client that may arise during their group participation
- Must be a team player and work with colleagues to address programmatic challenges as they arise
- Enter timely and accurate daily group attendance and notes into the database systems
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff activities, meetings and trainings
- Engage in his/her own ongoing professional development.
- Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- One year of group facilitation experience
- Bilingual is plus
- High school diploma or GED/HSE required.
- Experience and commitment to working with mandated participants with criminal justice involvement.
- Strong Time Management Skills
- Strong Microsoft Office and database entry skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills; and
