The successful candidate will play a key role in a growing team of professionals who assist clients with all aspects of governmental accounting and finance. Our client organizations are State and Local governments and institutions of higher education that follow the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The nature and extent of the services provided to our GOAS clients will vary, as will the individual career development and work opportunities for the successful candidate. To succeed in this role, you should enjoy solving problems, possess strong attention to detail, and enjoy identifying opportunities for efficiencies and gaps in internal control. How you will contribute :
- Lead and support projects that assist government finance departments in preparing for their annual audit
- Review work performed by staff consultants in the areas of bank reconciliations, pension and post-employment benefit accruals, lease and subscription-based information technology arrangements, capital asset tracking and depreciation, and other annual accounting entries
- Perform assessments of client's finance-related internal controls and make recommendations for improvement Serve as an interface between clients and their external auditors
- Assist in the implementation of new GASB standards
- Draft annual comprehensive financial reports using the firms in-house web-based platform
- Participate in the proposal process for prospective clients
