What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychotherapist position at Forward Learning Youth & Young Adults (FLYY)?
FLYY (Forward Learning Youth & Young Adults) is seeking a part-time Psychotherapist/Trauma Specialist with a passion for supporting youth, young adults, and families. The ideal candidate will have experience in serving the LGBTQIA community and providing gender-affirming care to members of the transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) community.
Responsibilities include providing a continuum of mental health services to a diverse clinical population, primarily adolescents and adults with a history of trauma. This position requires a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and a willingness to be flexible and creative about therapeutic approach and treatment. You will primarily see clients at the FLYY office but may also include some travel to clients in their home and/or in the community in and around Dane County. Clients may be referred from Quartz, GHC, Badgercare and the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in counseling, creative arts therapy, family therapy or social work and a valid Wisconsin clinical license. You must be fully licensed for this position and there are no exceptions for this qualification requirement. A training license will not be considered.
Preferences: A therapist who is a self-motivated team-player and demonstrates excellent clinical judgment. A dynamic clinical approach that incorporates aspects of mindfulness, embodied processing, internal family systems, DBT, CBT, creative approaches, motivational interviewing, and a nature-based therapeutic modality. Strong background in clinical counseling, crisis work, and leadership roles with youth and young adults. Eligible candidates must pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and criminal history screening.

Additional Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish and certification with the Dane County CCS program are beneficial but not required.
Job Type: Two Part time positions are open. After hire, FLYY will complete the credentialing processes with state and private insurance vendors before building your caseload. FLYY has multiple referrals on a waiting list and we will help manage our referral sources to help establish your caseload.
Hours: 15-20 hours (part-time) to start with the opportunity to build to full-time hours, Monday through Friday. Flexible schedule is important, particularly in after school hours, with the possibility of early evening hours. Full caseloads can take time to build.
Compensation: We offer competitive compensation based on contracted insurance rates from each referral source. In addition, we compensate for non-billable administrative tasks, with an expectation that at least 65% of work hours are dedicated to billable client services. Employees working between 20 to 30 hours per week can expect to earn an annual salary ranging from $52,500 to $77,000, based on billable hours and contracted insurance rates.
