What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at FORWARD TECHNOLOGY?
The Saw Operator will be responsible for cutting metal or plastic parts to print and making sure the parts are cut within tolerance. Applicant will operate bandsaw, tube saw, overhead crane, and other hand tools. Common materials to be cut are carbon steel (multiple grades), aluminum (multiple grades), brass, stainless steel (not very common), and multiple types of plastic such as UHMW, Delrin, and in some instances Teflon.
Under minimum supervision, applicant will cut quality parts from raw block of material and route them through the shop accordingly.
The Saw Operator ideally has strong manual tool experience and as a benefit (not required) has saw operation experience. A go-getter type personality with a strong desire to succeed will help the applicant thrive and grow in this position. Forward is happy to train the right person for the job.
Common tasks for this position include:
1) Cut parts based on prints provided from engineering group
2) Work with engineers/welder/fabricator/toolmakers to understand part requirements as necessary
3) Order raw material as required, keep stock/count of material in the saw area
4) Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve processes, efficiency, quality, and service
