Position: Carrier Relations Specialist
Job Description:
Forward Air is seeking a full-time Carrier Relations Specialist at its Groveport, OH facility. Due to continued expansion, Forward Air, Inc. is seeking self-motivated individuals to successfully oversee our cartage agent network.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Applicants should be able to develop carrier relationships, multitask, successfully coordinate between multiple departments, operations, service providers, communicate in a clear and professional manner, possess mid-level computer and typing skills, high attention to detail, ability to learn complex systems quickly, and have a positive attitude
- Manage the final mile pricing tables
- Manage available coverages and closures
- Identify, select, and secure new carrier options to enhance the existing network
- Onboard carriers via the application and contract process
- Negotiate pricing agreements
- Train new carriers in systems and requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- College coursework and/or cartage and/or transportation experience preferred but not required
- If you do not have experience in these related fields, but are seriously considering a career move into the logistics industry, then you may be considered if you can show proven, successful, and consistent experience in another field
- Professional, authoritative, and positive communication
- Relevant experience can include cartage, transportation, logistics, line haul, intermodal, warehouse, ground operations, and pricing
- Computer literate with at least entry level computer skills; systems used are Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Explorer, Email, and proprietary company programs
- Vendor performance oversight with an approach that balances vendor accountability and partnership
- Type 30 WPM preferred
- Multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Multiple line phone system, calculator, and great math skills
- Ability to successfully coordinate and collaborate between multiple departments and service providers
- Self- motivated with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Skills:
- The ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with AS400 operating systems is a plus
- Experience with Excel functions and macros is a plus
- Experience with Access and query functions is a plus
- Transportation industry knowledge and experience is a plus
