Position Purpose
The District Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring FOSS pools, pump rooms, and school facilities are in good working order to create an exemplary experience for our customers and employees. This position will oversee schools in Highland Park, IL, Libertyville, IL, and Sun Prairie, WI.
Primary Responsibilities
The following essential functions represent the primary work performed; however, the Regional Facilities Manager may be asked to assist with projects or tasks not detailed here but fall within the scope of this role.
- Manage vendors and contracted services.
- Procure necessary parts and equipment to maximize building equipment efficiency.
- Minimize downtime of equipment through spare parts management and install necessary equipment as needed.
- Surface efficiency and cost savings opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide input of departmental best practices.
- Create and manage implementation of a maintenance schedule including servicing repairs and replacements for FOSS critical systems including pools, pump rooms, HVAC and building such as: All pool plumbing, backwash, filters, heaters, chemical feeders, pumps, strainers, auto fill systems, sumps, UV systems.
- Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and systems according to plumbing codes.
- Manage general maintenance and filter schedule for HVAC.
- Install and repair general electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures.
- Seal joints, repair cracks, and smooth imperfections on walls and ceilings in preparation for painting or treatment.
- Conduct regular pump room and facility audits to ensure compliance and evaluate system requirements.
- Manage jobs in progress and completed jobs to ensure timely and cost-effective results.
- Manage work order process for all regional schools and make recommendations for the best course of action.
- Manage coordination with vendors and contractors as needed and manage budget spend for projects.
- Provide direction and guidance virtually and in-person to local school staff when maintenance issues arise or in emergency situations.
- Actively participate in team meetings and collaborative facilities projects across all FOSS regions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 3 years of general contractor, building maintenance and facilities management experience.
- 1 year of pool maintenance and pump room experience.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification (training available if necessary).
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, plumbing tools, mechanical equipment and measuring devices.
- Experience in supporting multi-location operations.
- Ability to collaborate with others to identify and solve issues or make proactive recommendations and lead through influence.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas to facilities team and vendors.

Working Conditions

Job Type: Full-time
Job Shifts:
- Monday-Friday on-site at Highland Park, IL, Libertyville, IL, and Sun Prairie, WI schools.
- Potential to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Up to 15% overnight travel.
