Director of Foster Career & Technical Education Center
Reports to: Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
Supervises: The Director of the Center supervises professional and non-professional staff members.
Qualificiations: Building Principal Certification (040) minimum
Performance Responsibilites:
Personnel
- Supervises all vocational programs and evaluation of the same.
- s responsible for teacher recruitment and recommendation for appointment in vocational programs to the Superintendent of RSU 9
- Evaluates professional and non-professional staff in accordance with RSU9 policies and procedures
- Coordinates the Center’s programs with departments including the administration of budget.
- Is responsible for curriculum review, revision, and alignment to state approved industry standards.
- Provides for professional improvement and instructor program specific certification of instructors in the Center.
- Responsible for encouraging, facilitating and evaluating teacher collaboration and integration between programs in the Center and with Mt Blue Campus.
Site Based Management
- Is responsible for record keeping of all materials and equipment within the Center.
- Prepares a budget for programs and administration within the Center.
- Collaborates with Mt. Blue Campus Coordinator and the RSU9 Assistant Superintendent to provide a system for open communication and professional development among the professional and non-professional staff via joint staff meetings, workshops, in-service programs, etc.
- Is responsible for scheduling all vocational students.
- Is responsible for handling all disciplinary issues within the Center in coordination with MBHS as necessary.
- Is responsible for communicating with all partner schools about student needs and concerns
- Is responsible for continuous communication with community and business contacts, including ongoing advisory committees and release of information to the public and press.
- Is responsible for the coordination of all partner schools that attend the Center. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Present programming information to schools through information, speaking engagements, online, etc.
- Tours of the Center.
- Scheduling of students.
- IEP attendance and assistance with the creation of support plans where necessary.
- Coordinate buses and different school calendars.
- Conduct FCTEC Advisory Committee meetings.
- Works with all sending schools to support students being a part of a comprehensive Center.
- Assists in studying the educational needs of the communities served by the Center and develops draft plans for meeting them.
- Develops opportunities to keep the public informed to further the community's understanding and support of the educational programs available.
- Uses resources of the Center along with the community in developing the most effective and up-to-date programming possible.
Other Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepares reports and grants as required by the State and RSU9.
- Serves on various committees within RSU9 and at the State level that are appropriate to support the Center’s mission.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may assign.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the
Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
