What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer position at Foster-Glocester Regional Schools?
Foster Glocester Regional School District is looking for a dedicated, motivated athletic trainer to support our student athletes’ success.
General Statement of Duties: The athletic trainer works cohesively as a member of a team with staff, colleagues, and administrators to improve the participation and progress of all student athletes by implementing practices and supports. The athletic trainer acts in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the district and goals of the schools.
Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the athletic director and school administrators with latitude to exercise independent professional judgment that supports the mission of the district and school. Work is subject to periodic review.
Responsibilities:
- Work with medical professionals and coaches to evaluate athletes’ condition, track progress and establish fitness and treatment
plans;
- Assist athletes, coaches, and families in understanding sports-related injuries and treatments;
- Assist athletes in receiving proper training and treatment;
- Use knowledge of sports-related injuries in diagnosing and treating athletes;
- Work with medical professionals, coaches and families in assisting and monitoring players as they move towards recovery from an
injury;
- Work with other staff/personnel in handling clerical tasks including but not limited to, inventory and supplies, assisting with budgetary
needs, paperwork for athletes to participate;
- Administer appropriate care/first aid to injured athletes;
- Implement therapeutic modalities as indicated;
- Supervise and instruct athletes during therapeutic exercise;
- Injury tracking and documentation;
- Maintain a safe and healthy athletic training room
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates
- Be on-site for training sessions, weight room sessions, and home games.
- Travel to away games, as needed.
- Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by
any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any
state or federal regulations including HIPAA.
- Perform the functions of the position in accordance with the: RI Professional Code of Conduct; and all laws, regulations, school
district policies, the mission of the district, school-based plans, and administrative directives / priorities / requests; and
- Perform other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary to perform the functions of the position.
