The essential duties and responsibilities of this role are as follows:
- Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation which is able to fulfill operational and customer demands, while meeting established targets.
- Provide technical on-the job training (OJT) to assigned team members, confirm members abilities to perform at desired levels.
- Track and record training sessions, attendance, and maintain member files.
- Lead team members in conducting daily safety and quality checks to ensure service performance levels are maintained.
- Check and confirm the accuracy of work instructions, make suggestions for improvements as seen necessary.
- Confirm non-conforming inbound freight is documented; any damage, shortages, or over shipments.
- Confirm internal generated non-conformances are recorded and reported to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure that all product received is promptly placed in designated locations, and inventory tags and stock movements are completed.
- Distribute pick sheets to Warehouse Associates for picking, staging, and verifying of the product, and quantities. Also ensures orders are filled accurately.
- Ensure that aisles are kept clear and workplace hazards are addressed immediately.
- Ensure that all team members are complying with safety, health, and quality standards.
- Ensure lifting and maneuvering of product is carried out in accordance to handling procedures.
- Ensure hazardous materials are stored, moved, or disposed of in accordance with requirements.
- Notify the Warehouse Supervisor of any problems with equipment, the building, or any suspicious activities.
- Order/maintain operating supplies and PPE to complete required tasks.
- Assist in capacity planning and implementation of layout changes to accommodate business changes.
- Where possible resolve any issues or problems impeding team success, escalate if it cannot be resolved.
- Take necessary steps to prevent theft in the warehouse. Secures all doors and docks at the close of business. Question any unauthorized personnel in the building.
- Set expectations for the team and inspect them to ensure the team is meeting or exceeding the expectations.
- Monitor and record individual team member performance and efficiencies, coach, and mentor if desired results are not obtained.
- Assist in the preparation and evaluation of members’ performance reviews.
- Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
