The Role
As Foster Village Charlotte continues to meet the capacity growth of needs and provide varied and responsive programs, the Caregiver Support Navigator will be the first point of contact for foster and kinship caregivers. The navigator will guide them through program offerings and help foster connection, engagement, and support while facilitating experiences to increase awareness and equip prospective and current families. Reporting to the Director of Caregiver Support and Advocacy, the Navigator will supervise the Welcome Pack Coordinator.
The Profile
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to FVC’s mission and has direct experience in the foster care system, either as a former foster care licensing social worker or foster care trainer. A BSW or related field, with 2 years of post-grad experience or MSW. The ideal candidate should be a nurturing and compassionate professional with strong facilitation and listening skills, capable of creating an inviting and supportive environment. The role demands a detail-oriented, collaborative, and flexible individual who excels at building connections and guiding families through complex systems with empathy and expertise.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for the Caregiver Support Navigator is $51,000 – $58,000, depending on experience. Full-time employees are eligible for health and life insurance and receive up to $350/month, depending on the selected plan. Full-time employees receive 14 PTO days, 10 holidays, one floating holiday, and the week after Christmas. All full-time employees are eligible for a one-month paid sabbatical in the third year of employment. The supervisor determines eligibility for hybrid work based on its alignment with the job description.

Key Responsibilities:
Caregiver Support & Engagement (50%)
- Serve as the primary liaison, providing relational connection and onboarding to Foster Village Charlotte services for foster and kinship caregivers.
- Provide 1:1 support to prospective and current foster and kinship caregivers.
- Coordinate foster parent mentorship relationships and oversee mentorship matches.
- Refer foster and kinship caregivers needing specialized support to the Director of Support and Advocacy.
- Oversee the private online caregiver community, ensuring engagement and access to relevant information.
- Manage workflows to connect families with resources and support.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of local resources for families.
Program Facilitation & Workshops (30%)
- Lead Exploring Foster Care community classes for prospective foster parents.
- Lead Village Bridge© classes in collaboration with county and agency partners. (This copyrighted curriculum supports caregivers who have completed licensure classes but have not yet received their first placements.)
- Recruit experienced foster parents as guest trainers.
- Facilitate or support a first-time foster parent support group.
- Lead weekend gatherings and workshops focused on caregiver connection, learning, and engagement.
Operational Support (20%)
- Oversee the Welcome Pack Coordinator.
- Assist with tangible requests as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Resource Center phone calls.
- Oversee and manage the distribution of our ongoing Village Encouragement Fund.
- Assist with special administrative and program projects as needed.
