Position Overview
The Vice President of Field Services & Installation is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of UDHG’s installation operations, from strategic planning and labor deployment to quality assurance and customer satisfaction. This executive leader manages a nationwide team of field professionals, ensuring that all installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role also ensures operational alignment with company goals, leads vendor relationships, and continuously improves processes, safety, and field efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep construction industry experience, especially with doors, frames, drywall, and related systems, as well as the leadership acumen to scale and elevate field services across a fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Alignment
Develop and implement a comprehensive national installation strategy aligned with company growth plans and operational goals.
Lead resource planning, labor forecasting, and execution frameworks to support sustainable field growth.
Partner with executive leadership and branch operations to ensure alignment between field services, sales, and project delivery teams.
Team Leadership & Development
Build and lead a high-performing installation team, including hiring, training, coaching, and succession planning.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement programs for technician skill development and leadership growth.
Establish a strong field culture centered on safety, accountability, and customer-first execution.
Project Management & Operational Oversight
Direct all installation activities from project initiation through completion, ensuring project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Manage job site schedules, material readiness, labor coordination, and communication with internal teams.
Resolve escalated job site issues and ensure continuous workflow optimization.
Customer Interaction & Sales Partnership
Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams to align installation activities with customer expectations and timelines.
Serve as an executive point of contact for critical customer engagements related to field execution.
Quality Control & Site Supervision
Define and enforce consistent installation standards and workmanship expectations across all sites.
Conduct regular site inspections and ensure adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and manufacturer specifications.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
Manage vendor relationships and subcontractor partnerships related to field services.
Negotiate pricing, timelines, and performance terms to ensure reliable and cost-effective support.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all field work complies with OSHA regulations, local building codes, and company safety policies.
Lead initiatives to reduce workplace incidents, improve field safety metrics, and reinforce safety culture.
Process Improvement & Technology Enablement
Identify inefficiencies in field operations and implement process improvements to boost productivity and service quality.
Leverage tools such as FieldWire, BuildOps, BlueFolder, SAP or similar platforms to optimize scheduling, reporting, and technician communication.
Reporting & Data Analysis
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as installation margins, productivity, quality, and safety metrics.
Prepare and present executive reports highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Use data to forecast labor needs, track project profitability, and guide strategic decisions.
Miscellaneous
Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall goals of the Field Services and Installation Team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience working with a general contractor or subcontractor managing field installation crews.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to various stakeholders.
Extensive technical knowledge of installation procedures, tools, and equipment related to doors, frames, drywall, and windows.
Strong understanding of job site operations, project coordination, and field resource management.
Proven leadership and team-building skills across large, geographically dispersed teams.
Familiarity with field technology platforms such as FieldWire, BuildOps, SAP or BlueFolder is preferred.
Strong project management abilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Demonstrated ability to drive quality, safety, and customer satisfaction while managing costs.
Compensation
Base: $185,000 - $215,000 / Annually
Bonus: Eligible
Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, education, training, and/or experience.
