Position Summary : CHI Leasing Consultant reviews up to 14 properties leasing files for the Children’s HOME Initiative (CHI) program. Strong affordable housing experience is required because of the complexities of each property’s requirements.
Essential Job Functions :
- Facilitate the completion of Children’s HOME Initiative applications and other service applications, when appropriate
- Work closely with property and program staff to remain current on qualifying criteria, tenant selection criteria, application processes and waitlist procedures for FC’s continuum of services
- Work closely with CHI intake team to collect CHI applications and pertinent documentation to review applications
- Interface with the public via phone, e-mail, and in person to provide service referrals, program information, and respond to housing inquiries
- Interpret and translate services provided to applicants of housing and intake program services
- Assist in returning housing calls, as needed
- Assist in reviewing more than 20 Children’s HOME Initiative program applications
- Qualify potential CHI prospects’ leasing applications according to the CHI / Foundation Communities criteria for multiple properties.
- Knowledge in what each property requests and requires
- Complete and verify AmRent report for each CHI leasing applicant
- Verify rental history by contacting current and former rental addresses for eligibility
- Verify employment history by contacting current and former employers for eligibility
- Assess criminal history reports for eligibility
- Enter client information into property database software
- Collaborate with Compliance to compile supportive information and clarify inconsistencies through the leasing application process
- Calculate income in accordance w / State Compliance
- Ability to research each property’s program requirements, such as the extra requirements for HOME, or Homeless Criteria units
- Submit completed leasing applications directly to Property Manager

This is a full-time position working a 40-hour work week, $21- $23 with quarterly bonuses for approved files.
Preferred Skills :
Physical Demands / Work Environment : Multifamily housing community with significant challenges related to housing instability and socioeconomic stressors. Must be able to work with diverse population, challenging work environment with at risk youth and families.
