Job Purpose
The role of the Director of Development is to manage multiple areas including donor acquisition and stewardship, marketing, print collateral and media relations. This position works hand in hand with the Vice President of Operations and the CEO and must be able to represent the organization in their absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, implements and manages the development/communications program designed to meet the goals and objectives as defined by the strategic plan.
- Works with Leadership, Board of Trustees and volunteer committees to plan, execute and facilitate fundraising and communications strategies.
- Develops annual revenue goals and plans to diversify and increase organizational budget through a comprehensive development strategy to include foundation and individual donors (major donor, smaller-level donors, online, etc.), as well as other appropriate sources.
- Directs the writing of funding proposals, direct mail letters, special event materials and other fundraising documentation.
- Ensures the branding guidelines are met for all collateral printing and social networking.
- Secures sponsorships for our signature events: Night for Sight and Stride for Sight.
- Oversees the stewardship plan for gift accounting, reporting functions and deepening of relationships with all FBC’s donors.
- Works with community partners to identify, cultivate and solicit potential significant donors to help meet funding goals for FBC.
- Deepens partnerships with existing corporate donors.
- Manages the Fundraising & Marketing team.
- Serves as a collaborative member of FBC’s Leadership Team.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to fulfill the mission of the FBC.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five years’ professional experience managing fundraising and development efforts for a nonprofit organization preferred.
- Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience.
- Ability to engage with new donors and steward existing donors.
- Ability to represent the Foundation for Blind Children in the community.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
