Foundation for Blind Children (FBC) is currently seeking applicants for a full time Occupational Therapist position working with adults with visual impairments. This position is based at our main campus in Central Phoenix and will also travel into the community for client home visits. This position is grant funded for a six month period with the possibility of extension. The Occupational Therapist provides therapy services to FBC clients with visual impairments. The Therapist provides assessment of clients’ functional capacity to perform activities of daily living, plans and implements appropriate treatment to meet individual client objectives, identifies barriers, and provides recommendations and training for accessible aids and devices.
Job duties include:
- Assesses clients' fine and gross motor skills and functional abilities for the purpose of developing recommendations for occupational therapy treatment and appropriate assistive devices.
- Evaluates functional capacity of clients to perform activities in daily living and achieve personal visual goals.
- Provides recommendations for occupational therapy treatment and appropriate assistive aids and devices.
- Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Trains clients in the use of low vision aids and devices, including basic accessibility features of smart devices and computers.
- Teaches clients techniques for adaptation to vision loss, such as eccentric viewing or sight substitution.
- Travels to clients’ homes to conduct site evaluations and in-home training.
- Collaborates with program staff for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing client services in compliance with established guidelines.
- Interprets medical reports within the scope of Occupational Therapist’s experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and ensuring that treatment plans are appropriate.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Maintains client records in accordance with required internal and external guidelines.
- Completes required documentation and billing in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Arizona Occupational Therapy License required.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification required.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
- Level IVP Fingerprint Clearance card or ability to obtain clearance required.
- Previous experience working with clients with low vision strongly preferred.
Salary : $90,000 - $102,000
