The School Nurse will implement treatment and administration of medications to students enrolled in a private day school setting to support their health and participation in their individual education plan and classroom routine. Provides health services to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. Supports the education process by working to assure the health of the students. Participates as an active, effective member of the school health team in addressing medical needs of all students. Performs emergency response roles, as required.
Job duties include:
- Provides professional nursing services to all age groups in the school setting using discretion and professional judgment
- Clinical practice, education, and documentation will comply with agency, local, state, federal policies and standard of nursing practice to assist individuals in obtaining optimal wellness
- Participates in the individual and health action plan of care for students with special health needs
- Supervises and administers health screenings and provides necessary follow-up
- Serves as a health resource person for students, staff, and parents
- Provides emergency health care for students and staff
- Follows protocols, procedures, and written care plans; administers medications; and monitors for adverse side effects
- Provides ongoing observation and feedback on student health conditions to the administration and educators
- Participates in health educational activities, attends on-going and mandatory in-services and workshops to meet the specific needs of the students and enhance personal and professional growth
- Serves as a substitute 1:1 nurse as needed
Qualifications
- Current Arizona LPN or RN license in good standing is required
- CPR/First Aid Certificate
- IVP Fingerprint Card or ability to obtain clearance
- Current and valid Arizona Driver's License
- Ability to move body in many different ways in order to interact with and position students such as: stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing and pulling consistently throughout the day and on a daily basis
- Required to routinely lift and assist students with mobility issues
Salary : $40 - $47
