The Student Success Coordinator develops and implements strategies and curriculum to improve employment outcomes for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The Coordinator prepares and assists students to ensure they are career-ready upon graduation from the Foundation for Blind Children’s Adult Comprehensive Program.
Job duties include:
- Provides one-on-one employment and job readiness support and instruction to students.
- Promotes and teaches self-advocacy for blind and visually impaired job seekers and students.
- Develops and facilitates group sessions on relevant employment topics to support student progress.
- Facilitates one on one OAD sessions with students
- Educates students on the stages of career development and helps them develop a plan for achieving their career plans and goals.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for staff and students in job readiness and employment content areas.
- Attends job fairs and forums with job seekers.
- Ensures students are prepared to begin the job search process by educating and supporting resume writing, interview techniques, phone skills, networking, and other job search processes.
- Reviews and evaluates the student’s job-search strategies and resume/cover letter to help optimize job search planning; offers suggestions on interviewing techniques, networking strategies, resume and cover letter edits, and navigating online application platforms.
- Supports the student in creating a Labor Market Survey as required by Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
- Maintains current understanding of state and national job and labor markets, makes appropriate referrals for students and alumni in job search and educational exploration, and provides current career-related resources.
- Completes student progress reports on a daily and monthly basis to support Vocational Rehabilitation reporting requirements.
- Establishes and fosters relationships with local employers and resources to support students and job seekers.
- Provides outreach and support to program alumni.
- Collaborates and participates in student/client staffing meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or ability to obtain clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a social services field such as social work, psychology, counseling, public health education, or a related field is required.
- Two (2) years’ documented experience directly working with persons with blindness or vision loss is strongly preferred.
- Familiar with resources available to persons with blindness or vision impairment.
- Experience helping individuals overcome barriers to employment.
- Expert in resume development and critique, building LinkedIn profiles, and networking.
- Educational or career experience in one of the following areas is preferred: student services, social services, vocational rehabilitation, career services, job development, or recruitment.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
Salary : $56,000 - $62,000
