What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Foundation for Successful Living?
Foundation for Successful Living is seeking compassionate individuals who have motivation for working with people! We serve a community of adults with I/DD in order to reach their goals of independence and create meaningful community connections. Staff members support our clients while they participate in skill building community activities and explore their interests. Each day there a variety of activities to engage in such as volunteering at a local non-profit, hiking, cooking, community safety, and creative arts.
Duties:
- Provides and encourages natural supports to their clients.
- Documents the community engagement of their clients.
- Treats all clients, their parents and staff with dignity and respect.
- Supports clients in choosing their activities based on their client’s interests and goals.
- Assist clients in learning life skills and vocational skills based on their skill level
- Follows HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality of their clients.
- Employee must be able to be physically active throughout the day to support the needs of the clients, including bending and lifting mobility equipment
Qualifications:
- Must be able to physically assist individuals with mobility needs and toileting protocols.
- Driver's license, auto insurance, and safe vehicle to transport clients daily. Mileage is reimbursed
- Must be responsible and trustworthy
- Must have problem-solving skills and the ability to self-start tasks
- Must be willing to work with a diverse group of individuals
No experience needed, paid training provided. Shifts are Monday-Friday 8:45-2:15 (Minimum 3 days/wk)
Our offices close for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks to allow our employees time to spend with their family and friends!
