Event Coordinator (Part-Time)

Location : Remote / Flexible

Reports To : Senior Director, Planning Outreach

The Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Event Coordinator to support our mission of delivering transformative educational and professional development programs for high school teachers and students nationwide. This role focuses on the planning and marketing of FTE’s flagship program, Economics for Leaders , which equips future leaders with essential economic insights.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Logistics

  • Venue Coordination : Manage contracts and arrangements with university partners, including booking dorms, meeting spaces, food services, AV equipment, and campus access for participants.
  • Excursions : Plan off-site field trips in various cities, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule while collaborating with on-site staff.
  • Budget Management : Assist in preparing and tracking event budgets, process invoices and check requests, and provide progress reports to staff.
  • Program Support : Oversee various program logistics and provide administrative support as needed.

Communications & Marketing

  • Partnership Development : Research and coordinate initiatives to boost student and teacher enrollment.
  • Website Updates : Manage website content updates and creation throughout program cycles.
  • Marketing Innovation : Explore new angles and strategies to enhance outreach efforts.
  • General Office Support

  • Inquiries : Respond to phone and email inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Administrative Tasks : Assist staff with clerical duties and other logistics as needed.
  • Physical Demands

  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Working Conditions

  • Part-time permanent position, 25-29 hours per week.
  • Hybrid work options available for nonprofit based in Davis, CA.
  • Occasionally requires weekend and / or evening work due to business cycle.
  • Smoke- and tobacco-free environment.
  • Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience :

  • Event Coordination : 2 years of experience in event / program planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Marketing : 1 years of professional experience in copywriting and marketing initiatives, with excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Tech Proficiency : Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Adobe Suite and cloud-based CRM systems is a plus.
  • Organization : Exceptional project management skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Initiative : A self-starter with creative problem-solving abilities who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience with pre-college academic enrichment programs or professional development conferences.
  • Alignment with FTE’s mission and values.
