Job Title: Banquet Cook
Reports to: Executive Chef
Works Under the Direction of: Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage
Job Summary: The Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for banquet events, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. This role involves working closely with the Executive Chef and the Director of Food and Beverage to execute event menus and maintain a smooth operation in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes according to event menus and recipes.
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- May assist in the planning and development of banquet menus.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor food inventory and report any shortages or discrepancies to the Executive Chef.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during events.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff.
- Participate in the setup and breakdown of banquet events.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of all food items.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Director of Food and Beverage.
Essential Job Duties:
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to the event menu, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Menu Execution: Follow recipes and presentation specifications as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring all necessary ingredients are available for events.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate and ensure efficient service during events.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of food served, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards.
- Event Support: Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet events, ensuring smooth operations.
- Training and Supervision: Help train and oversee junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a hot and noisy environment.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a banquet or catering environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary trends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
