Fountain Equipment Finance, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of SmartBank, is based in Knoxville, Tennessee and has been in the equipment financing business for over 35 years focusing on providing financing solutions for the construction and transportation industries. The Company provides capital for the financing of both new and used construction, transportation, and related equipment. The Company primarily operates in 12 states and is partnered with SmartBank, a 40 -branch full-service banking institution with operations throughout Middle & East Tennessee, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. The Company is looking to add an experienced and proven individual to serve as its Collector at its Knoxville headquarters. This role involves overseeing the collection and monitoring of past due accounts, rehabilitating troubled assets, and managing accounts in default. The Collector will also handle repossessed assets, ensuring their prompt and prudent management and disposal. Key responsibilities include contacting customers to identify reasons for delinquency, coordinating payment arrangements, and monitoring adherence to commitments to transition accounts from past-due to current status. The role requires conducting account reconciliations for disputed payments and working professionally with customers to resolve delinquent accounts.

- Document the history, classification reason, and current status of each troubled loan/lease.
- Develop and document strategies for assigned debt facilities, including initiatives and timelines.
- Manage litigation for assets, including reviewing legal documents, approving costs, recommending settlements, and assigning assets to attorneys or agencies
- Execute initiatives to achieve strategic goals within established timelines.
- Oversee the preparation of reports, including: Loan/Lease Charge-Off Requests, Problem Accounts/Repossessed Assets Management Report and a Repossession Inspection Reports
- Contact debtors to negotiate payment plans.
- Maintain accurate records and report on collection activities.
- Identify system gaps and recommend solutions.
- Build trust with debtors and update account statuses regularly.
- Comply with legal requirements when action is necessary.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to achieve desired outcomes. Work with internal resources to determine how to best handle non-responsive past due accounts and ways to find specific data needed to make informed decisions regarding account resolution.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding their accounts in an efficient and professional manner.
- Assists relationship managers and senior management with difficult or complex accounts and situations, utilizing technical knowledge of collections and procedural or legal guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Applicable federal, state and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
Ideal candidates for the role will include:
- Proficient level of computer competency including Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook), typing proficient.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Will be required to travel to training sessions or meetings.
- Must be able to able to prioritize and organize daily workflow.
- Possess knowledge of related federal and state laws affecting and governing collection activity and bankruptcy.
- Possess knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)-Revised Article 9 or equivalent legislation.
