Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply is one of the largest regional independently owned and operated Welding, Industrial, Specialty, and Medical Gases distributors in the Southwestern U.S., with locations in Gallup and Milan, (NM) Cortez and Durango, (CO). This document outlines the role, responsibilities, and expectations of the Pumper at Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply.
Role Overview:
The Pumper is responsible for timely and accurately pumping of liquids or gases into cylinders based on the customer’s request. Tending to equipment that is used to transfer liquids or gases from processing equipment to tanks trucks and storage tanks.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Required: High School or equivalent
Key Responsibilities:

- Use safe work practices, adhering to work regulations, follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment in required work areas.
- Computerized record-keeping through DataWeld;
- Ability to interpret pressure gauges with different pressure ranges to accurately fill cylinders.
- Loads, unloads, rolls, and moves cylinders to designated areas based on product type and federal guidelines from or onto trucks with the use of a forklift or other machines.
- The Pumper is responsible for warehouse organization, cleanliness, and will bring any maintenance concerns to the attention of the Production Manager.
- Maintains FDA required fill logs for Medical Grade Gases
- Conducts daily forklift checks before, during and after use.
- Update and maintain proper labeling systems in accordance with company procedure for storage.
- Fills cylinders accurately and in accordance with company procedures, utilizing pressure/temperature/weight charts.
- Verifies that shipment and manifest is accurate before departure and arrival.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
- Removes snow and water around the work areas as needed.
- Assists on the inside sales counter when needed.
- Completes payment transactions, prepares merchandise for delivery.
- Provides necessary reports on a weekly basis, or another timely basis to management.
- Protects the company’s value by keeping proprietary information confidential.
- Complies with all federal, state, and local legal requirements regarding compressed gases.
- Ensures proper capping and uncapping of cylinders.
- Assist with physical and cycle count inventory.
- Inspect cylinders for hydrostatic test dates and damages.
- Performs other duties assigned by management.
- Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities
Physical Demands:
Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders, gripping, reach with hands and arms, carrying, climb up and down stairs. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and keyboarding. Visual abilities, near and far vision, depth perception. Exposure to dust, loud noise, adverse environmental conditions, outdoor, yard, warehouse, industrial cylinder room, hazardous material. Position requires sitting, standing, and walking constantly throughout the work day. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
Work Hours/Salary
This full-time position requires a commitment to work from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with rotational Saturdays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Rate of Pay: $12 to $15 depending on experience
