Bench Jeweler (5yrs exp req) Stone Setter Exp Pref

Overview

Bench jewelers are an important part of the Four Decades Jewelry team. They are meant to perform all requested and necessary work on jewelry including setting, sizing, re-tipping, welding, soldering, polishing, engraving, cleaning, and other work consistent with the jewelry industry standards of quality, service, and timeliness.

We are looking for a bench jeweler who has at least 5 years of stone setting experience and who can also demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced and results based job environment while building strong relationships, culture, and values within the company. We are seeking a bench jeweler who leads by example to demonstrate strong personal character, values, commitment, organizational skills, and work habits. A successful candidate for this role must be friendly, respectful and have a genuine interest in the success of the shop.

Pay rate will vary based on skill and experience. This describes the pay rate most candidates will be paid to start this role, but it does not describe the maximum potential for the pay in this role. Individual pay rate will be determined based on skills and qualifications for this rolle. The starting pay range for this same position may be higher or lower in other markets.

Responsibilities

Shop work

• Ensuring the quality of merchandise and making and providing accurate assessments of merchandise quality and condition so that the company may make proper decisions on the best course of action
• Maintaining the shop and personal workspace clean, organized, and presentable.
• Locating and keeping findings inventory
• Consulting with the shop foreman and office manager to help ensure customer needs are met throughout the repair or creation process
• Maintaining safety and security protocols, including those specifically associated with the shops equipment and chemicals
• Consistently pursuing personal and shop improvement and development
• Use new technology and old school expertise combined

Collaboration

• Working professionally and courteously with all staff, fostering an environment of teamwork and respect
• Works to ensure a positive and engaging workplace for all and embody important company values such as integrity, teamwork, trust, and continuous personal improvement

Qualifications

• 5 years of bench experience 5 years of stone setting experience.
• Must be versed with all aspects of basic jewelry work like sizing, chain repair, stone tightening, plating, cleaning/polishing, etc.
• Must have experience and be comfortable with bezel, prong, and channel setting of various stones and sizes
• Must have some experience with hand fabrication
• Demonstrate high levels of visual acuity and manual dexterity
• Must be able to efficiently handle deadlines and manage rush jobs
• Have the ability to receive feedback from peers, managers, and customers and adapt behaviors accordingly
• Must be able to demonstrate basic verbal communication and written skills in English, as well as simple math
• A bench test may be required

Schedule

• Monday-Friday 7:30-4
• Closed on 6 major holidays
• Overtime during the months of November-January
