Candidate Requirements
You must have at least 2 years of certified veterinary technician experience in a small animal veterinary clinic. You must be able to safely restrain dogs and cats of all sizes, lift up to 50 pounds and be able to bend, stand and be active for a 9-hour shift.
You must be willing to learn our standard operating procedures, enjoy educating clients and coworkers on preventative testing, perform all technical aspects of anesthesia, dentistry, surgery and proficiently care for sick hospitalized patients. IF you own pets, they must be up to date on their veterinary care because we believe all pets deserve exceptional veterinary care.
You are an outgoing, patient, even tempered person who enjoys making a client’s life better by helping solve their pet’s problem. You are attentive and recognize problems in our patients so medical interventions can be made swiftly. You are confident yet humble and understand that the ability to admit mistakes or weaknesses are important to the health and safety of our patients.
You are the type of person that understand this job is not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it rains urine and diarrhea, but you embrace the challenges and look forward to solving each new problem that you are presented with.
Details are important to you and people describe you as conscientious. Your log books, patient records, treatment sheets and anesthesia records are always complete. You tend to show up 5 minutes early to engagements rather than 5 minutes late.
It would be great if you had experience working with Avimark. Amazing phone skills and a hospitality mindset are a must.

Benefit and Wage:
$25-$28/hr. depending on experience (Higher wage range is reserved for a very experienced CVT, RVT or LVT)

Candidate Duties
As a veterinary technician, our patients count on you when they are most vulnerable and as such, this role has important responsibilities. These skills are essential for a veterinary technician to provide high-quality care to animals and support to our veterinary practice.
· Venipuncture: Drawing blood from dogs and cats for various tests, identifying correct blood tubes.
· IV Catheter Placement: Inserting intravenous catheters for fluid therapy or medication administration.
· Diagnostic Imaging: Positioning animals and operating imaging equipment such as X-ray and Ultrasound machines.
· Anesthesia: Administering anesthesia, monitoring anesthesia levels and vital signs during surgical procedures.
· Dental Prophylaxis: Cleaning and polishing teeth, dental charting, performing dental x-rays.
· Surgical Assistance: Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring and post-operative care.
· Wound Care: Cleaning wounds and changing bandages
· Laboratory Procedures: Performing various tests, such as CBC, Chemistry, PCV, HWT, Felv/FIV test.
· Pharmacology: Knowledge of medications, including dosage calculations and administration routes.
· Emergency Care: Providing immediate care and stabilization for injured or critically ill animals.
· Patient Monitoring: Monitoring and recording vital signs, fluid intake/output, and overall patient condition.
· Client Communication: Explaining treatment plans, medication instructions and post-operative care to pet owners.
· Animal Handling: Safely restraining and handling animals during examinations, treatments and procedures.
· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records for each patient.
· Nutritional Support: Providing guidance on animal nutrition and dietary needs.
· Behavioral Observation: Identifying and reporting abnormal behavior or signs of distress in animals.
· Sanitation and Sterilization: Following protocols for cleaning and sterilizing equipment and facilities.
· Zoonotic Disease Control: Understanding and implementing measures to prevent the spread of diseases between animals and humans.
· Team Collaboration: Working effectively with veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and other staff members to provide comprehensive care for animals.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
