Job Overview
We are seeking a Director of Nursing for our brand new 20 bed inpatient behavioral health facility specializing in substance abuse withdrawal management. The role will be overseeing the nursing staff and working alongside a interdisciplinary team including psych providers, medical providers, counselors, and behavioral health specialists.
This facility is pending licensure with the state of Arizona with an estimated opening date of May/June 2025.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and medical history.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Administer medications and provide education on their effects and side effects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, including observations and interventions.
- Provide support to patients and their families, offering guidance on coping strategies.
- Participate in case management activities to coordinate care across various services.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards of practice.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring nursing staff and creating community engagement strategies.
- Supervise all nursing staff including performance management.
- Manage staffing levels, including scheduling and assigning duties to ensure adequate coverage
- Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes
- Oversee program monitoring and evaluation efforts, including chart auditing.
- Support the development, integration and application of a Quality Program that utilizes empirically supported data.
- Experience
- Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Valid nursing license (RN or BSN)
- Proven experience in nursing administration or leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in documentation review and quality improvement processes
- Experience in psych or behavioral setting including experience utilizing seclusion/restraints is preferred.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes related to patient care management.
- Previous experience working with patients with psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses
- Ability to effectively manage shifts while ensuring quality patient care.Job Type: Full-time
