Scope and General Purpose The Laundry Attendant/Housekeeper ensures a safe and efficient operation of the laundry department on a daily basis. They will be working both as a housekeeper and in laundry depending on the needs of the hotel on a given day. Use proper cleaning and care of the laundry items and laundry equipment. Main Duties 1. Practices customer service behaviors, such as listening, initiative, responsiveness, cheerfulness, accommodation, courtesy, honesty, and professionalism. 2. Makes decisions in the best interests of the property and in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures. 3. Demonstrates positive Team spirit providing assistance to other Team members as necessary to achieve required standards of productivity and guest care. 4. Separates linen from terry and shakes to expose any items left behind from guests for submission to Lost & Found. 5. Loads, programs washers and dryers to achieve cost effective and proper cleaning/drying of items in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 6. Assists in stripping/picking up linen from rooms/delivery of linen & terry to rooms asrequested. 7. Soaks linen & terry as needed for stain removal prior to washing as required. 8. Checks linen & terry daily for wear and tear. Repairs/utilizes/discards worn items as directed. 9. Fold linens and towels as directed, ensuring free of wrinkles, frayed edges, stains, and hair. 10. Cleans bedspreads, blankets, and shower curtains. 11. Cleans lint from dryer daily as instructed and checks for lint under dryer drum with additional cleaning of equipment as required to prevent fire and safety hazards. 12. Keeps laundry area clean, neat, and organized. 13. Empties laundry room trash at the end of the shift and places in outside dumpster. 14. Assists in housekeeping as requested/required. 15. Cleans and maintains employee break rooms and restrooms. 16. Picks up litter in the parking lot and public areas as directed. 17. Controls costs by properly using department supplies, water, and electricity. 18. Follows key control and security procedures. 19. Maintains labor efficiency in Minutes Per Occupied Room as directed by the General Manager orHead Housekeeper, with high quality standards always in mind. 20. Understands and uses applicable brand standards and Hawkeye Hotels Employee Handbook standards. 21. Knows the hours of operation of the property’s facilities and is aware/promotes these facilities and amenities. ***The working schedule is solely based upon the needs of the hotel business, meaning that the hours worked are directly affected by the hotel’s occupancy. *** Laundry Attendant pg. 2 22. Ensures safe use of chemicals and equipment in accordance with the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and manufacturer’s instructions. 23. Knows how to use and is able to assist in the equipment for the disabled. 24. Knows all emergency procedures. 25. Turns in all Lost & Found items, tags, and stores them as directed by management. 26. Practices safe work habits and uses protective equipment when necessary. 27. Handles all guest complaints to customers’ satisfaction and relays information to supervisor. 28. Reports items needing maintenance attention as directed. 29. Immediately reports suspicious or unlawful activities to immediate supervisor and/or Police. 30. Attends and participates in staff meetings, safety meetings, training classes, etc. 31. Abides by all policies and guidelines of Hawkeye Hotels and the brand. 32. Promotes the brand and other Hawkeye Hotels locations at all times. 33. Keeps all company business confidential – either while on or off property. 34. Performs other tasks as assigned or authorized by the direct supervisor or General Manager. 35. Ensures accurate and timely completion of reports as applicable to the position.
