Position Summary:
The Hotel and Event Sales Manager is responsible for generating revenue by selling hotel rooms, event spaces, and catering services to clients for a variety of occasions. This position combines proactive sales techniques with excellent customer service, creating customized event packages and accommodations to exceed clients’ expectations. The role involves managing relationships with clients, conducting site tours, finalizing contracts, and ensuring successful event execution by collaborating with internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales and Revenue Generation
- Proactively seek out new sales opportunities, including corporate groups, weddings, social events, and local negotiated rate (LNR) contracts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients, engaging in activities like networking events, site tours, sales blitzes, and trade shows.
- Identify and target local business, sports teams, and other groups to drive room nights and event bookings.
- Event Coordination and Planning
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, from initial inquiry through event planning and execution, to deliver a successful experience.
- Coordinate event details such as room setup, audiovisual needs, catering, and other special requests by liaising with the hotel’s operations, culinary, and F&B teams.
- Draft detailed event orders and communicate specifications to relevant departments.
- Contracting and Pricing
- Prepare customized proposals, negotiate contracts, and create pricing structures for rooms and event spaces based on seasonality, budget, and client needs.
- Offer guidance on hotel packages and ensure that clients are aware of options that enhance their experience while maximizing revenue.
- Establish clear and competitive pricing strategies for events and hotel accommodations in alignment with revenue goals.
- Client Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, managing communication from booking confirmation to post-event follow-up to ensure client satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Solicit feedback and resolve any issues promptly to maintain a high standard of service and guest satisfaction.
- Engage in client appreciation activities and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling other hotel services.
- Collaboration and Team Coordination
- Partner with hotel departments, such as Front Desk, Housekeeping, Banquets, and Maintenance, to ensure seamless event execution and exceptional service delivery.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings, revenue management discussions, and event debriefs.
- Coordinate with the team to create promotional materials and marketing strategies to drive event sales.
- Market Research and Reporting
- Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing strategies, and competitive analysis within the local event and hospitality market.
- Prepare and present reports on sales performance, market trends, and client feedback to management.
- Track event-related revenue and forecast future sales opportunities, adjusting strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience in hotel sales, event sales, or catering sales. (preferred but not required)
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software, hotel management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and events simultaneously.
- Other: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required.
