General Summary : A nonexempt position responsible for facilitating patient referrals to specialists, coordinating with healthcare providers, and ensuring timely appointments. Additionally, assisting the nurse team with tracking laboratory and diagnostic testing, and obtaining prior authorizations are integral tasks in this role.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
- Ensures accurate and timely transmission of patient referrals to specialists.
- Assists patients with scheduling imaging, laboratory test, consultations and specialty appointments.
- Address patient inquiries regarding referrals, lab tests, and authorization with clarity.
- Relay information to patient regarding preparation for laboratory test and examinations.
- Coordinate visits within the health center or between external referral sources.
- Collaborate with both primary care providers and specialists to streamline the referral process.
- Tracks and obtains up-to-date medical records for specialty appointments, laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging ensuring it is received in a timely manner.
- Responsible for initiating and completing prior authorizations.
- Follow up and close any open referral and / or orders.
- Works closely with Clinic Manager and Quality Manager to ensure accuracy and efficiency of the referral, laboratory testing, imaging and authorization processes are effective.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education : High school diploma
Experience : Minimum of one year of experience in clinical setting.
