SUMMARY:
Responsible for dealing and supervising various games of poker and handling guests cash transactions in accordance with policies and procedures and gaming regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Understands and promotes departmental and property-wide promotions.
- Maintains current knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, compact, etc.) and attendant regulations, as well as internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Enforces performance standards, policies and procedures relating to all poker games, ensuring compliance with the Gaming Commission regulations.
- May at times be called upon to perform Brush Person duties.
- Checks bankroll from previous shift to ensure accuracy.
- Observes game, players, and dealers, to ensure accuracy of the game and game protection.
- Ensures that all games move at an appropriate pace.
- Promotes positive guests relations providing a good gaming experience by answering questions, resolving disputes, locating beverage servers, comping, etc.
- Assists in training and evaluating of subordinate employees in a fair and equitable manner.
- Encourages rated play and tracks players, noting buy-ins, length of play, win/loss and average bet.
- Understands pit accounting procedures and administrative tasks, i.e., fills, credits, marker transactions and responsibilities.
- Deals poker games in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Greets new guests players providing information about the game, answers any questions and provides instructions to the players as needed.
- Promotes positive relations on a continual basis by calling for beverage servers, chip fills, maintaining clean area.
- Advises supervisor when cash exchanges are made, counting down coin, and/or chips to be transferred.
- Collects the rake at the end of each bet and upon completion of the game, dropping the rake into the table drop box, assures accuracy of the rake count.
- Ensures the integrity of the game and provides an enjoyable gaming experience for the players.
- Has knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, compact, etc.), as well as internal controls, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred. One to two years dealing experience required.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to Bend, Twist, and reach when collecting wagers, discarded cards, and counting cards in a new deck. The employee is required to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time.
