What it's like to be a Director of Nursing at Four Winds Manor?
As the Director of Nursing at Four Winds Manor, Inc., you will take on a full-time administrative responsibility, working closely with the Nursing Home Administrator to ensure the highest standards of care delivery across nursing, pharmacy, therapy, and medical record/supply services. In this integral role, you will consult regularly with the Medical Director and manage a dedicated team to provide care that aligns with professional standards, facility philosophy, and regulatory compliance. You will develop and implement policies that reflect current laws and promote continuous quality improvement. Collaborating with the Nursing Home Administrator, you will strategically allocate resources to empower each resident to achieve their highest practicable level of physical, mental, psychosocial, and spiritual well-being. Your leadership will guide professionals and staff in coordinating care that prioritizes the best interests of our residents, ensuring excellence in all aspects of service delivery.
What you need to be successful
To thrive as the Director of Nursing at Four Winds Manor, Inc., candidates must possess a robust skill set and relevant experience. An Associate Degree in Nursing is required, with a Baccalaureate preferred, ensuring a strong foundation for nursing leadership. A current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin is mandatory, along with a minimum of five years of professional nursing experience within a long-term care setting. Ideally, candidates will also have two years of nursing service administration or comparable management experience.
Physical demands include a range of activities such as standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, requiring sound body mechanics and the ability to perform repetitive motions. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep sense of empathy are essential for effective team management and resident care. Candidates should be energetic, forward-thinking, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in healthcare delivery.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing, Baccalaureate preferred.
- Certificate/License: Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin
- Certification in Infection Prevention is required.
- Wound Care certification preferred.
- Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional nursing experience in a long-term care setting. Two-year experience in nursing service administration or comparable management experience preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Requires infrequent sitting, crawling, kneeling, climbing; occasional squatting/crouching; frequent balancing, reaching, twisting/turning, bending stooping; and continuous standing and walking. Requires the use of hands with possible repetitive motion. Demonstrates proper body mechanics and ability to do frequent pushing/pulling of up to 20 pounds, frequent lifting and assisting of residents, and ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
