The Senior Reservoir engineering position is responsible for creating and maintaining technical interpretations and economic valuations for the basins and plays where we invest or intend to invest. This role requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of the drivers of well performance, future development potential, the application of technology, emerging opportunities, and operator behavior within these focus areas. Those that fill this role should be viewed as technical experts within the organization and will support detailed technical evaluations, make impactful recommendations, influence corporate strategy, and communicate regularly with senior management and investors. Professionals in this role are expected to work closely with other functions such as geology, operations, and business development. Strong internal and external communication and presentation skills are necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare production and cash flow forecasts for corporate properties and acquisition opportunities.
  • Lead the evaluation of acquisition and divestiture (A&D) opportunities and present to management.
  • Prepare corporate reserve reports with the assistance of an independent petroleum engineering consulting firm.
  • Assist in the creation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts in coordination with the finance team.
  • Collaborate with geology and operations to identify opportunities to optimize well spacing and completion designs, improve well productivity and enhance capital efficiency.
  • Cultivate and evaluate new ventures with the geology and business development groups.
  • Compile, analyze, and create databases of various regional engineering data to aid in the analysis of existing properties and new ventures opportunities.
  • Assist in meeting regulatory requirements and providing data and analysis to regulatory agencies to advance field development planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reserve and financial operating reports provided as needed to various banking and institutional investors.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend conferences and participate in industry forums to stay ahead of trends, emerging technologies, and other opportunities.

  • Education, Skills and Experience Required

  • 8 years of experience in acquisition, evaluation, reservoir, geologic and petrophysical activities.
  • B.S. in Petroleum Engineering or another core engineering discipline.
  • Prefer prior public company experience with more recent tenure in an independent company environment.
  • Significant experience in evaluation of acquisitions, exploitation development engineering, project management, reserve estimation, planning, horizontal drilling, reservoir modeling, data analytics, with a focus on resource plays.
  • Expertise in Aries, Spotfire, and Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with SQL, Python, and other data analytics platforms preferred.
  • Ability to efficiently analyze complex economics and reserve determination with strong understanding of reserve classification definitions, economic modeling, and fair market value metrics.
  • Ability to think creatively and independently.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, including well developed communication skills.
  • Must be able to work as a team player who interacts well with all levels of the company from senior management to field personnel.

  • Sitting, visual and mental acuity, manual dexterity, hearing, speaking.
  • Ability to work at computer for long periods of time.
  • Environmental Conditions

  • Works indoors in office environment. May occasionally visit field locations.
  • Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Salary $155,000 - $195,000
