About the Position
Foursquare is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team!
As a senior level technical member of Foursquare’s Marketers Data Science team, you’ll be responsible for leading the innovation efforts to build and evolve the next generation of our ads measurement and ads targeting solutions. You would leverage the cutting-edge machine learning and causal inference technologies to reshape our marketing solutions and to help our clients to optimize their marketing strategies and drive higher efficiency. The role emphasizes technical excellence and driving business impact with state-of-the-art science and techniques.
As a result, the ideal candidate will demonstrate to be an ads or marketing domain expert, have strong knowledge of causal inference and expertise to bring in cutting edge methodologies, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and external vendors. In addition, a successful candidate will be able to influence these technical and non-technical partners in order to achieve the best outcome for Foursquare and its customers.
In this role, you’ll

Leverage massive data sources, observational causal inference, bias corrections, cutting-edge attribution methods to design, prototype, implement, evaluate and monitor our ads measurement system.

Identify the right solution and think out of the box to tackle large, open ended, critical or foundational causal inference problems with or without known solutions, such as modeling and measuring the long term ads effect, the heterogeneous ads treatment effect, etc

Drive projects across multiple products and areas. Provide thought leadership to the team both strategically and technically. Be able to drive a roadmap and provide mentorship to junior level team members. Be able to drive the data science culture such as experimentation culture.

Be comfortable diving deep for descriptive analysis, generate insights from massive of our data, also comfortable to design and analyze experiments to measure the effectiveness of our solutions

Be a strong communicator to work closely with a range of stakeholders to influence, design and implement solutions

Proactively think strategically about opportunities to improve and scale our measurement and targeting solutions
What you’ll need
-
6 years of industry experience with a Masters, or 3 years with a PhD.

Strong domain knowledge in ads measurement, strong domain knowledge of causal inference, experimentation and quasi-experimental methods.

Degree in quantitative field of study (computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, etc.)

Proficiency in Python and SQL

Strong problem solving and data-driven decision making skills, with a track record of successfully uncovering data insights that lead to positive business impact

Proven track record of delivering on large scale products and/or complex practical research endeavors

Ability to solve business problems using appropriate methods and models

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to influence cross functional partners of varying technical levels and drive impact

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Economics, Statistics, or related field

Passion for ads industry; a desire to keep up with and find opportunities to apply modern academic and industry research into our solutions
